The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have discussed the Karabakh conflict with Russia's deputy foreign minister, Grigoriy Karasin.

Karasin held working consultations yesterday in Moscow with OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Bernard Fassier (France), Robert Bradtke (USA) and Igor Popov (Russia), and Andrzej Kasprzyk, personal representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office.

They discussed pressing issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, 1 news.az reported.

At the weekend, the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers met in Almaty with the heads of the delegations of the countries co-chairing the Minsk Group mediators. In a downbeat statement after the talks, the mediators said "the efforts made so far by the parties to the conflict have not been sufficient to overcome their differences", and urged for a greater spirit of compromise on both sides.

On the instructions of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Karasin presented the "For contribution to international cooperation" to French co-chair Bernard Fassier.
