Azerbaijan exported 15.303 million tonnes of crude oil for $8.787bn in the first six months of 2010.
Crude oil accounted for 85.77% of Azerbaijan's exports during the reporting period, according to figures from the State Customs Committee.
In the whole of 2009, Azerbaijan exported 27.829 million tonnes of crude for $11.989m, so it looks on course to exceed last year's export totals.
Crude oil exports in June were 3.258 million tonnes for $1.808 million, the highest monthly export figure this year. Monthly crude exports in May were 2.65 million tonnes for $1.67 million and in April 2.546 million tonnes for $1.49 million.
While most of the oil was produced by the BP-led Azerbaijan International Operating Company, it was all exported by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan's Department for Marketing & Economic Operations.
As of 1 July 2010, 20.439 million tonnes had been exported via pipeline (3.48 million tonnes in June) and 620,665 tonnes by rail (128,410 tonnes in June).
The exports via pipeline broke down into 1.048 million tonnes via Baku-Novorossiysk; 17.2 million tonnes via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan; and 2.169 million tonnes via Baku-Supsa.
The average export price per tonne of Azerbaijani crude in June was $555.05 and over the first six months as a whole $574.16.
Azerbaijan’s overall exports in January to June totalled $10.245bn.
