SOCAR continues working at feasibility study of new complex in oil refining, gas and petrochemistry to be built north of Sangachal oil, gas terminal.
SOCAR vice president in refining Davud Mammadov said that in late September the company expects to receive the feasibility study of the project.
“It will be considered and if recognized expedient, its coordination, receive of permissions and work at the project will follow. The project envisions deep processing of Azerbaijan’s hydrocarbon reserves. The complex is projected based on the population of the country in 2050, the par of cars, level of fuel oil consumption and so on. The complex capacity is estimated at about 40 bn cubic meters a year while the capacity of the oil refinery will be about 15 mln tons for the next 40 years”, Mammadov said.
The complex will process natural and associated gas, oil with the output of oil products, motor fuel and lubricants. The project envisions development of new petrochemical sphere on the basis of oil and gas processing products, its own electric power station to ensure needs of the complex and possible construction of the complex for chemical production.
“The complex is expected to work in full in 2018-2019. The gas processing and petrochemical plans will be held on par which will take five years considering 2010. These enterprises will be launched in 2015. The parallel construction of the oil refinery and thermal electric central will further start here”, Mammadov said.
