Ilham Aliyev lauds relations with Iran

Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are developing successfully, the Azerbaijani president said today when he received Iran's interior minister

Ilham Aliyev hoped that Mostafa Mohammad Najjar's visit to Azerbaijan would be productive and expressed his confidence that the visit would encourage the friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries. The president described the visit of the Iranian minister at the head of a large delegation as a good indicator of relations and expressed confidence about the further strengthening of bilateral ties.

In turn, Najjar said the presence in his delegation of the leaders of four Iranian provinces bordering on Azerbaijan showed the importance attached to the visit.

Azerbaijan's interior minister, Ramil Usubov, received his Iranian counterpart and the visiting delegation, the ministry's press service reported on Monday.

Usubov said that such meetings fostered collaboration in the fight against organized crime and international terrorism. He said that bilateral agreements between the two countries played a significant role in this.

They discussed the state of society and crime in Azerbaijan.

Mostafa Mohammad Najjar thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for the sincere reception.
