Azerbaijan's presidential administration comments on information about possible temporary opening of Armenian-Turkish border.

Chief of the International Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov has commented on the possible opening of the Armenian-Turkish border for the period of NATO exercises in Armenia.

Currently, we do not have any official confirmation of the information that Turkey is really going to open borders with Armenia. All talks about it are currently observed on the level of statements in press, therefore, we cannot comment on this issue.
However, I would like to note that Azerbaijan's position on the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border remains changeless and clear.
We have repeatedly declared our position on this issue. It is necessary to note that the Turkish leadership has agreed on Azerbaijan's position on this issue and it has repeatedly been voiced on the meetings with the US, Russian, French and other leaders.

The single position of Azerbaijan and Turkey is that the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh is related to the resolution of all other processes in the region. The opening of the Armenian-Turkish border without the resolution of the Karabakh conflict would be an extremely wrong step.
As is known, despite the imposed pressure on this issue several time ago, Turkey remained loyal to its position preserving the adherence to strategic and fraternal relations with Azerbaijan. We are confident that Turkey's position in this issue will remain changeless in the future.
I would like to note that this position has repeatedly been voiced by Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish FM Ahmed Davutoglu, as well as other senior officials of this country', Novruz Mammadov said in his comment.

At the same time, Mammadov did not rule out possible attempt by some forces to provide support to Armenia by imposing definite pressure on Turkey for the purpose of opening the border.
These forces, which are keen on the opening of borders, should better take steps to settle the Karabakh conflict. This all can again be viewed as an attempt to assist Armenia. We have repeatedly stated and today we call on the West to take a fair position in the issues of the Karabakh conflict and the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border.

We do not call on the West to stop assisting Armenia. But they should realize that if this assistance is provided at the cost of the interests of other countries, Azerbaijan would never reconcile with it.
However, they have recently come to the same opinion that Azerbaijan's interests cannot be ignored in favour of the interests of the opposite side since it does not meet the interest of the West, among others.
We have repeatedly stated that if they really want progress, prosperity and cooperation in the South Caucasus, they must take into account Azerbaijan's interests. First of all, they must attain the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh', said the representative of the presidential administration.
