Armenia, Azerbaijan disagree at Black Sea assembly

The Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations to the Black Sea Economic Coooperation Organization's Parliamentary Assembly clashed over prisoner figures.

Turkish and Azerbaijani delegates made statements at the Parliamentary Assembly sitting in Belgium.

The Azerbaijanis said that Armenia was holding female Azerbaijani prisoners and contaminating Azerbaijani water.

'We asked them to provide the lists, if there are any,' MP Vardan Khachatryan, a member of the Armenian delegation said.

He said there were no Red Cross documents confirming the presence of Azerbaijani women prisoners in Armenia.

The assembly meeting turned down a request for observer status from the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States.
